Gabbiano Sangiovese

Monday, March 3, 2014

Name: Gabbiano

Variety: Sangiovese (13% Alcohol)
Region: Chianti
Country: Italy
Year: 2012
Price: $9

My Review:  This wine looks light-bodied, with little to no legs. It is plum colored, with a hint of brown. It smells like plum, licorice, and a hint of a smoky aroma. It tastes just as it smells, and is also sour with a slight metallic aftertaste.

Winery Review: In 1124, Castello di Gabbiano was established in the heart of the renowned Chianti Classico region. During the middle ages, a courageous Italian knight, Il Cavaliere, dedicated himself to protecting our castle and vineyards. His code of honor came to embody our philosophy that the finest things in life deserve our fiercest commitment - estate vineyards. Old World traditions, and the enjoyment of robust wines. Salute.

I did not drink this with food
I might drink this again
