Name: Benvenuto de la Serna
Variety: Malbec (14% Alcohol)
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2009
My Review: This is a very dark wine, possibly the darkest I have ever had. It is nearly black in color, and is a dark red around the edges. It is very full-bodied with big legs that stick to the side of the glass very much. This wine smells earthy with no distinct fruit aroma. It smells like the mustiness in an attic, with also hints of dirt, smoke, and sawdust. This wine tastes as it smells (not a bad thing) with slight tannins and a very smooth finish. This wine also clings to the inside of my mouth the same way it does the wine glass.
Winery Review: Jammy berry fruits, violet notes and graham cracker define the bouquet on this high-quality, good-value Malbec. The palate isn’t huge but it’s well structured, and the flavors are exotic and out of the ordinary, with an emphasis on Middle Eastern spice and blue-fruit flavors. On the finish, it’s chocolaty and spicy but loses steam quickly.
I did not drink this with food
I would definitely drink this again (9/10)
