Cono Sur Viognier

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

Name: Cono Sur

Variety: Viognier (13.5% Alcohol)
Region: Central Valley
Country: Chile
Year: 2012
Price: $9

My Review: This is a medium-bodied white wine with slight legs, and it is yellow to light gold in color.  It smells of pear, melon, and a hint of a grassy aroma.  This wine is acidic on the initial palate, but then becomes sweet, creamy, and smooth on the finish.  This is different than most wines since the taste buds that detect sweet flavors are on the tip of the tongue.  The one thing I do not like about this wine is that I taste the alcohol too much.

Winery Review: A bright Viognier with apricot, peach, and orange aromas together with a fresh stone fruit palate.  This is the perfect wine to serve with many Chinese dishes, particularly sweet and sour chicken or prawn.

I did not drink this with food
I might drink this again (7.5/10)
