Name: Chateau Ste Michelle

Variety: Riesling (12% alcohol)
Region: Colombia Valley, Washington
Country: United States
Year: 2012
Price: $10

My Review:  This wine looks like it is a light bodied wine based on the color and legs. I smell peaches and a floral aroma when I smell it. This wine is very sweet with a very smooth, buttery texture.

Winery Review: Enjoy classic Washington state Riesling in this fresh, crisp, and balanced style. Delicious flavors of ripe peach and juicy pear are underscored with racy acidity. Washington - world class and wonderful.

Concannon Cabernet Sauvignon

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Name: Concannon

Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon  (13% alcohol)
Region: California
Country: United States
Year: 2012
Price: $10

My Review:  Before tasting, this wine is very full bodied based on the color and legs. This wine has a strong cherry aroma, also with a hint of wood, possibly cedar or oak. After tasting this wine, it is extremely bitter with a metallic, vinegar taste. It is a very dry wine that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Winery Review: Since 1883, Concannon Vineyard has been handcrafting fine varietal grapes grown throughout California’s premier wine-growing regions. We carefully select the most ideal vineyards and craft this expensive fruit into superb wines.  Our full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon is brimming with black cherry and vanilla and a rich, smooth finish with oak overtones. Enjoy with bleu cheese-stuffed with filet mignon or hearty minestrone soup.

Tilia Malbec

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Name: Tilia

Variety: Malbec  (13.5% alcohol)
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2012
Price: $10

My Review:  This wine smells spicy, possibly licorice, and also of blackberry and cherry. This is a very dry wine, but probably the smoothest dry wine I have ever had. It has a prickly sensation in the mouth, but not the throat. This wine is very flavorful also with a hit of plum and a relatively thick body.

Winery Review: Tilia, the Latin name for Linden, is a traditional tree in Mendoza whose flowers are used to make a relaxing herbal tea, enjoyed after a long day's work among the vines. The choice of this historic tree to represent our wine reflects a commitment to the traditional way of life in Mendoza, where most farmers bike or walk to work and live with their families near the winery and vineyards. Tilia is sourced from sustainability farmed vineyards in the Eastern and Southern regions of Mendoza. Tilia Malbec shows concentrated black cherry and plum fruit flavors and aromas with a touch of spiciness and a soft, supple finish.

Lesse-Fitch Pinot Noir

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Name: Lesse-Fitch

Variety: Pinot Noir  (13.5% alcohol)
Region: Napa, California
Country: United States
Year: 2012
Price: $11

My Review:  The immediate smell I get from this wine is smoke, specifically burning wood. There is also the traditional cherry aroma. The wine tastes just as it smells, and has a smooth finish. It is light to medium bodied with little or no legs.

Winery Review: This wine celebrates our home, the Lesse-Fitch Adobe. Built in 1836, this historical landmark in the Sonoma Plaza was named after Jacob Lesse and Henry Fitch, brothers-in-law to General Mariano Vallejo, the founder of the town of Sonoma.

Canyon Road White Zinfadel

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Name: Canyon Road

Variety: White Zinfadel  (9% alcohol)
Region: California
Country: United States
Year: 2012
Price: $7

My Review: This wine has an overpowering smell of strawberry with possible hints of other fruits as well. This is the sweetest wine I have ever tasted, and one of the smoothest. I taste a lot of strawberry and it has a very soft, plush texture that makes it very easy to drink.

Winery Review: Inspired by the scenic roads that wander through California's stunning wine country, Canyon Road's winemaker. Rafael Jofre, crafts beautifully structured wines that express true varietal character. Canyon Road White Zinfadel is smooth and crisp, with hints of strawberry, cherry, and watermelon.

Touraine Sauvignon Blanc

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Name: Touraine

Variety: Sauvignon Blanc  (12.5% alcohol)
Region: Mouzillon
Country: France
Year: 2011
Price: $11

My Review: This wine does not have a strong aroma, but I smell an aroma of green apple. This wine is very dry and has a citrus taste. There is also a possible hint of caramel. This wine has a very gritty feeling in my mouth, but is very easy to drink at the same time.

Winery Review: This Sauvignon Touraine has an elegant pale yellow colour with hues of green. The expressive bouquet is dominated by notes of exotic fruits, red currants and black currant buds. Balanced, well-rounded, and fresh on the palate, it can be enjoyed chilled as an aperitif or with shellfish, smoked fish, goat's cheese.

Bogle Vineyards Essential Red

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Name: Bogle Vineyards Essential Red

Variety: Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah  (13.5% alcohol)
Region: California
Country: United States
Year: 2011
Price: $11

My Review: This wine has no distinct smell in my opinion, it tastes like a standard red wine, with hints of cherry and strawberry jam. It tastes like unripe fruit with a prickling sensation when consumed. This is a very sour wine with a slight smokey after flavor.

Winery Review: Rich, ripe, luscious and juicy this compelling red blend brings together the best of old vine zinfandel, syrah, cabernet sauvignon and petite sirah. Unlike anything we’ve made before...
